Wine and Fragrance: an Aromatic Exploration
During this class we will be:
• Tasting 1oz pours of various wines (three whites, one rosé, and four reds.)
• Sampling 8 different aroma chemicals/aromatic compounds, each paired with a respective wine.
• Discovering eight different fragrances paired with respective wine and aroma chemicals.
• Analyzing five different aromatic organic materials in scent training tins.
• Evaluating the aromatic sensory experience of paired organic material, aroma chemical, fragrance, and wine.
• Learning about the science of scent reception and techniques to enhance the sensory experience of fragrance and wine sampling.
• Delving into aroma chemistry (specifically how wines accrue their aromas, oxidation, and how wine and fragrance aromatic performance vary by climate.)
• Exploring Fragrance and Wine histories and their intersections.
