FRAGRANT EXPLORATIONS: SEVERANCE
Course Description: For our second edition of Fragrant Explorations, we’ll take a scented elevator down to the unsettling, unforgettable world of Severance. While the severed floors of Lumon Industries seem outwardly sterile and impersonal, they offer a surprisingly rich olfactory landscape — a strange blend of the clinical, the uncanny, the culinary, and the deeply animal. Beyond Lumon’s walls, the gritty outside world offers a stark sensory contrast: cluttered suburban houses and yards, rain-slicked streets, icy sidewalks, and retro, half-forgotten spaces.
Join us as we dive into the show’s iconic imagery, music, and emotional beats, pairing them with curated fragrances and natural and synthetic raw materials. Participants will smell and discuss each pairing while sharing their thoughts on the show’s shocking plot twists, stellar performances, and powerful symbolic language. We'll also look ahead to speculate on what Season 3 might bring.
